GLENN HUGHES' Cover Of LED ZEPPELIN's 'Misty Mountain Hop' Featured On Australian 'Divine' CD
March 2, 2007According to Deep-Purple.net, the Australian version of legendary vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes' (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH, TRAPEZE) latest solo album, "Music for the Divine", contains the following bonus tracks: a remix of "Monkey Man" (with additional vocals by Australian superstar Jimmy Barnes); and a cover of LED ZEPPELIN's "Misty Mountain Hop", featuring a guest appearance by ALICE IN CHANS guitarist Jerry Cantrell.
In an interview conducted last year by Rockdetector.com's Garry Sharpe-Young, Hughes stated about his rendition of LED ZEPPELIN's "Misty Mountain Hop", "Sony Pictures asked we do something so we did a wonderful version of LED ZEPPELIN's 'Misty Mountain Hop'. This was for the movie 'Lords of Dogtown'. So I wrote Jimmy Page a letter because with LED ZEPPELIN you have to get permission and blessing from the guys, Jimmy, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones. But we didn't get the clearance in time to make the movie deadline."
"Music for the Divine" received its long-awaited U.S. release late January via Demolition Records. The CD, which is available in Europe on Frontiers Records, was recorded in drummer Chad Smith's (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) house and again features Smith on drums and longtime Glenn Hughes collaborator JJ Marsh on guitar. Also featured are RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist John Frusciante and Mark Killian, who has provided the string arrangements and keyboards.
Glenn recently announced his new touring band as Jeff Kollman on guitar, Mark Mondesir on drums and Anders Olinder on keyboards.
